Guess What? Not going to happen!

July 21 2010

For those of us who have been around since the 1980’s, we were told back then that the WSIB would pay off the unfunded liability by 2014. Guess What? Not going to happen! Some have called for a summit meeting or a series of summit meetings while others feel that the problem will eventually solve itself. Guess What? Not going to happen! Politicians avoid the discussion or the existence of any problems, as it is easier to say "the WSIB is an at arm’s length organization" So are we to anticipate a solution to this massive debt will likely come from the very people who created it in the first place? Guess What? Not going to happen!

The unfunded liability will not be solved by the WSIB or those within the WSIB. It will not be solved by summits or speeches. It will be solved when government, business and injured worker groups collectively mandate the system needs to be fixed AND recognize the revenue challenges associated with this mandate. It will require sacrifice by all and great management. Otherwise we should pull the plug and let big insurance move in and let the civil lawsuits begin. “Oh say can you see, by the dawns......

If you want to see the WSIB system change to eliminate the Unfunded Liability.
