HEAT STRESS

We investigated a case of heat stroke earlier this month. The worker survived but is still in hospital. This gives us another example of the importance of understanding exposure to heat and sun - common occurrences in construction. Remember that as the body's core temperature rises you run the risk of serious health problems. Reducing strenuous activity, drinking lots of water and getting regular breaks to cool down are essential. We had one very successful project where our client mandated a break every hour for 10 to 15 minutes when the temperatures were over 30C. Please remember that heat stroke can kill. No job is worth dying over. Remember that and stay cool!
